On the ridge line at 1,820 m, the Prati refuge is famous for its sunrises over the Tyrrhenian Sea. You sleep facing east, before the chain of ridges towards Usciolu.

Bedding: dorm bunk, PNRC tent or bivouac (subject to availability).
Booking is compulsory on the Park's official system, by date and place. Refuges are staffed from 16 May to 4 October 2026.
A sleeping bag is required (no blankets provided); meals are ordered from the warden, not online.

The refuge on the ground
The staffed refuge has showers, water and a small shop. Its ridge position exposes it to wind and storms: watch the forecast closely before committing to the next day's ridges.
Perched on the ridge near the Bocca d'Oru (~1,820 m), on a clear day it looks straight down over the eastern plain and the sea; it was rebuilt after a lightning fire.

Our stop here
We didn't sleep here, but Prati remains a real memory of our day 9. That morning, a knee pain had made me rethink the plan — Usciolu rather than Croci — and the refuge became a stage within the stage: we truly stopped. Coffee, a break, a chance to breathe. At that point on the GR20, a terrace, a bit of quiet and the pack set down for a few minutes are enough to put your head back in order.
Prati is also where we first made out the coast, towards Porto-Vecchio. Seeing the sea again after days in the mountains is a strange feeling: the end of the route really exists, it's no longer theoretical. We weren't there yet, far from it — but something shifted mentally from here on. For that alone, the stop is worth it.
