The last GR20 refuge before the finish, I Paliri nestles at 1,055 m among the Bavella needles, 13.5 km from Conca. It's the lowest on the route, and often the mildest night.

Bedding: dorm bunk, PNRC tent or bivouac (subject to availability).
Booking is compulsory on the Park's official system, by date and place. Refuges are staffed from 16 May to 4 October 2026.
A sleeping bag is required (no blankets provided); meals are ordered from the warden, not online.

Surrounded by Laricio pines and the red spires of Bavella, it's the final evening on the trail. The next day, a long descent leads to the Conca terminus — the end of the traverse.

The refuge is overlooked by the Punta Tafunata di Paliri, a granite needle pierced by a large hole — an emblem of the Bavella massif.

Our last night on the trail
We slept here on the evening of day 11, after the extra stretch from the Bavella col — about five kilometres we hadn't really bargained for. When the refuge finally appeared among the pines, the relief was immense: a splendid, peaceful setting, almost perfect for a last night before Conca. Almost — an extremely violent storm was forecast, and the weather turned very fast. Wind, rain, gusts around 120 km/h making the tents stagger: genuinely impressive.
We honestly thought we would have to write off dinner. Then collective resourcefulness took over: between hikers, we managed to boil the water for the pasta, and that simple meal took on enormous value. Paliri will stay with us as a blend of beauty, fatigue, weather scare and solidarity. The next morning everything was packed by 5 a.m.: Conca was waiting — and so was the midday apéro.
